Open solitaires usually require more skill compared to closed or half-open games. Michael wanted to develop an open solitaire variation of Pyramid Solitaire, and after some experiments came up with Giza Solitaire. Giza Solitaire was invented by Michael Keller, who first published it in 1998. Only the uncovered cards in the pyramid and the top cards in the bottom three rows can be played.A King has a value of 13 and can be removed as a single card. The other cards are worth their face value. A Queen has a value of 12 points, a Jack 11, and an Ace 1.The valid pairs of cards are: 7 & 6, 8 & 5, 9 & 4, 10 & 3, Jack & 2, and Queen & Ace.Consequently, 3 rows of 8 cards each are dealt below the pyramid. First, 28 cards are dealt in the form of a pyramid, similar as in Pyramid Solitaire. The objective in Giza Solitaire is to remove all 52 cards by combining 2 cards that in total have 13 in value.
